Day wombats

No, he’s not a speed bump

Wombats are nocturnal animals, but they haven’t all read the script.

This Huon Valley wombat often comes out in the daytime.

We’ve called him Prince Harry, for no particular reason.

Locals posted the sign for motorists to slow down.

Concerned residents also had the council install a speed-limit sign on the road, as animals were being run over regularly.

Unfortunately, some people seem to run wombats over on purpose.

Wombats aren’t exactly fast movers, and are usually easy to avoid, so when multiple dead animals appear on a quiet rural road, you have to wonder.

A more bumbling, harmless creature you could not imagine.
